Galentine's Party 2019

This past Sunday, we hosted our annual Galentine’s Day Party for our Class of 2020 Senior Model Team. The evening was filled with laughter, food, and lots of super fun games. This was the very first event for our Class of 2020 Senior Models, and we had so much fun getting to know all of the girls!

The party featured a “Babes Who Brunch” themed food area with a full spread of donuts, croissants, fruit, muffins, danishes, and mini cinnamon rolls (which were my personal favorite). They sat and ate at a flower covered low table with floor seating under an instagrammable sign. We even had a “bubbly bar” where the girls clinked their glasses of sparkling cider with their new friends!

In the other room there was a card decorating table where the girls made cards for their friends and colored Galentine’s Day themed pages. We also had multiple photo-ops including a “Girl Gang” letter balloon sign, a pink confetti filled backdrop, and a Parisian inspired cafe setup with a sign that read “You, Me, Oui”, where the girls took the cutest boomerangs and photos for their Instagrams.

Throughout the night we had the girls do some hilarious games that made for some great candid shots. The most exciting games were our Instagram Scavenger Hunt and Musical Chairs where the winners won Dutch Bros gift cards.

The models received their custom calendars that had all of their model shoots and events that they will be participating in throughout the year. We split them up into groups so they could meet some of the other girls that will be on the shoots with them!

All in all, the Galentine’s Day Party Meet + Greet was a HUGE success and we can’t wait to work with our models and their families this year. Check out the adorable photos from the party below!

Reflections on 30 | What I've learned this year.

When I was a kid, I would plan out my birthday parties months in advance. I’m talking like a full 11 months before, I would start a countdown and constantly remind my family of my upcoming birthday while I dreamed about how I wanted to celebrate.

Some of my most memorable parties include a tea party that I planned with my grandmother, using ideas from my American Doll Parties Book, a wild and crazy get together at an indoor trampoline park before trampoline parks were really a “thing”, complete with a bucking bronco and Britney Spears’ latest album on repeat, and a small get together with friends in our newly built 50’s themed diner room, decked out with black and white tile floors and red booths, that quickly turned into a full blown house party that I spent hours cleaning up after - right after the sheer embarrassment of my MOM doing the worm…in front of all my friends. Yes, you read that right.

You could say that I had my share of exciting birthdays.

But like most of us, as I got older, life got busier and parties seemed useless. I mean who wants to spend money on a party for themselves when you can drink wine on the couch and watch Netflix, amiright?

But turning 30 seemed big. Really big. Not in a depressing way, but an exciting one. I was turning my back on a decade that saw my marriage (and later…divorce), the birth of my son Bentley, my Air Force career, my college dropout, the creation of my photography business, friends lost, friends gained, the failures, the break throughs, and everything in between, and was embarking on an entirely new chapter of my life. It only seemed fitting to celebrate in a big way.

The Big 30 weekend consisted of a belgian waffle breakfast at home with my little family, an ice skating adventure where I tried my hardest not to break any bones, dinner out in Davis with some friends, a party at our house with lots of friends, and a hot air balloon ride in Napa that ended with a champagne breakfast. My super talented friend Amy of Loves Landing Photography was there to capture most of our weekend and I’m super thankful for these photos!

As I look back over this past year, these are some of the nuggets of wisdom that 30 has thrown my way:

  • Every person in your life has a purpose. They aren’t all meant to come and stay forever, but each is there to teach you a lesson.

  • Goals aren’t accomplished by chance, and you have to make real changes to see real results.

  • Your mental health is as important as your physical health, if not more.

  • If you want something you have to go for it! Take life by the horns and act purposefully.

  • Investing in the people and the passions that make you happy, and removing anything and anyone who isn’t adding something to your life, is crucial.

  • As cliche as it sounds - do whatever makes you happy. Have the party, don’t have the party. Eat the cake, go on the vacation, cut the loose ends, say “no”, enjoy every moment.

Now I’m off to end my 31st birthday weekend with some wine and Netflix on the couch…you with me?

Marianna | Vacaville Senior Portraits

Marianna’s senior portrait session was one of my favorites from 2018 and when you see the photos, you’ll see why!

When Marianna came in with her parents for a consultation, they told me they wanted a beach location but also liked the idea of a “fall” vibe for her senior portraits. The day of her senior session, I looked at the awesome outfits she brought in and immediately knew that I wanted to head to Pacifica to shoot. The sweeping coastline, mini sand dunes, and open fields would be the perfect backdrop.

My favorite outfit was the red jumpsuit - I knew it would pop against the blues and greys of the ocean and sky! The sweaters and warm colors in her outfits gave us the fall vibes she was going for, and the jumpsuit and skirt let us keep a summer look in the rest of her photos. She didn’t even hesitate when I asked her to run straight into the waves - she just went for it!

We had so much fun that morning and I think it shows. The final photos came out exactly as I imagined and I couldn’t help but use her photos to order new samples for the studio. Now everyone who comes in gets to see her beautiful photos in print.

New Year's Eve Senior Model Shoot

This is your year to SPARKLE.

Our Senior Models are always doing fun, themed photo shoots and this was our very last shoot with our class of 2019 girls. It was a bittersweet ending to a fantastic year with them and we went out with a bang on this sparkly, New Year’s Eve themed shoot.

The girls all got their makeup done by my fantastic makeup artist, Edith Perez, and we put together wardrobe and props from Forever 21, Target, and Party City. In case you are wondering - yes, we are still cleaning up glitter and confetti off the studio floor from this shoot. But it was so worth it!

I still have a few spots left for the class of 2020 Senior Model Team, so if you are a high school junior girl in Vacaville or a surrounding city, please shoot me a message ASAP so I can send you details about getting involved in these fun shoots!

Merry Christmas from the BGP Team!

Christmas Card Team Pics-88.jpg

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, friends! This year has been nothing short of an adventure and our studio has been filled with wonderful clients, lots of laughter, and magical moments.

I knew I wanted to send out a holiday card this year to all of our beloved clients and so, of course, we had to schedule ourselves for a photo shoot! Who better to call than my dear friend and talented photographer - Amy of Loves Landing Photography. As you can tell, we had a little too much fun.

After we nailed our Christmas card photos, we decided to also take an “awkward family photo”, and ended the morning with a Mean Girls “Jingle Bell Rock” dance performance by Natalie and yours truly.

Warmest wishes from Brianna, Edith, Sam, Julia, Natalie and Ines…

Senior Model Holiday Party

Senior Model Holiday Party

‘Tis the season for celebrating, and that’s just what we did with our class of 2019 Senior Models and their families a couple weeks ago! Their Senior Model experience was coming to an end, and what better way to commemorate our time together this year than with a winter wonderland bash in our studio filled with lights, tinsel, and a snowy tree scene.

This party was my way of saying “thank you” to our Senior Models and their parents, and take a fun look back over all we have done together this year. We have gotten to know each and every girl individually and shot their senior portraits, taken trips with some of them, and done multiple model team photo shoots and events since January. I loved being able to see the girls and their parents again and look back at the memories we made with them, and send them off into the holidays and their second half of their senior year with a celebration.

The “Get Lit” photo station was the biggest hit of the party, with the photo wall coming in a close second. People lingered around the photo wall throughout the night, looking at photos from their model shoots and senior portraits that I had printed off and attached to the wall in a huge collage. We had a hot cocoa bar, a snowy trees photo station, a tabletop “Deer Pong” game, appetizer and dessert buffet, champagne for the parents.

The studio was filled with white and gold stars hanging from the walls and in the windows, fake snow and Christmas trees lining the entryway, cocktail tables with candle and pine cone centerpieces, and balloons covering the floor. Towards the end of the night, we all came together to watch a video slideshow on the projector that showcased all of the girls, their senior sessions, and model shoots this year. The night wrapped up with an awards ceremony and handing out a little gift from us to the girls - ornaments with their senior photos on them (wish we got a photo of these!). It was such a blast of a night and I’m so thankful for all of our sweet clients!

Our class of 2020 Senior Models are already signed up and we’ll be beginning their experience soon, but spots are still open - shoot us a message if you’re interested! Current high school junior girls in Vacaville and surrounding areas are eligible.

Emily's Intern Experience

Emily's Intern Experience

Sunflower Model Shoot RAW (140).jpg

This was the first season that we have had an internship program here at the studio and my oh my, what an adventure it was with them this summer. We had the opportunity to work with 6 incredible young women over the past couple of months and Emily was one of them. Emily impressed me from the start with her dedication and drive, and her continued creativity with each and every shoot she assisted on. She is both sweet and kind, hardworking and dependable. Read on to see what Emily had to say about her time as an intern for Brianna Gamble Photography.

"Although I am sad that my time as an intern at Brianna Gamble Photography has come to an end, I am so grateful for all the memories and experiences I have gained from my time here! At the beginning of this internship I was excited to work on my photography, improve my editing skills, and learn the ins and outs of a photography business, and I can definitely say that I accomplished all of these goals.  I am super thankful for Brianna and the rest of the team members for being so supportive and always answering any question I had, as well as for making the whole studio a fun and memorable place to work.  I have many great memories from my time spent with the BGP team over the summer, but I just wanted to highlight a few to help summarize some of my favorite moments!

DSC_4558.jpg

City Lights Shoot - First up is our City Lights Senior Model Shoot in San Francisco, one of my all time favorite shoots from the summer!  We went to Union Square in SF with some girls from the senior model team, and the whole shoot was high energy and a lot of fun. During this shoot I was working on taking videos, which was great for me because it helped me realize that in addition to photography I also am really interested in videography, which is definitely something I will be pursuing in the future.  I really loved how all of the photos from this shoot turned out!

"Who I Am" Portrait Sessions-  I really enjoyed working with Amy (BGP's associate photographer) on tween confidence sessions!  This especially helped me understand the business side of photography as well as how to interact with clients.  It was also interesting to see what objects each tween client brought to their session and watch how Amy was able to bring out their unique personality in each photo.

Senior Sessions-  All of the senior sessions that I went on were very different, but on all of them I enjoyed helping choose outfits and matching outfits with locations.  A few of my favorite senior session locations would include the cutest winery ever, the beach, and finding random flower fields on the side of the road.  I got to work on creating content for Brianna's Instagram stories, taking behind the scenes videos, and other tasks, and Brianna always took the time to explain everything from lighting to Instagram captions.  I always had a good time during every senior session, and watching and learning from Brianna has definitely improved my own photos!

I can think of a lot more great memories from throughout the summer, but I wanted to wrap up this blog post by saying again how grateful I am for this experience and everything that I have learned.  Brianna really helped my improve my photography and editing and always found time to fit in helpful trainings for the interns or to answer any questions I had!  I am so glad I decided to apply for this internship and I was able to take so much away from this experience that has already improved my photography and also helped me with skills that I will use the rest of my life!"

Vacaville TuesdaysTogether August Meetup | HeadSpace Beauty Lounge

Nat Reynolds Headspace Shots (6).jpg

The Vacaville TuesdaysTogether group had our August meetup at HeadSpace Beauty Lounge this week and it was an absolute blast. Being surrounded by some of the areas finest creatives, sipping wine and talking branding is my idea of a great night!

From the high ceilings, to the gorgeous natural light, to the dynamic accent wall, to the paintings created by local artists adorning the space, HeadSpace was the perfect place for us all to unleash our creative ideas and collaborate. A HUGE thank you to the salon's owner, Terresa Borrego, for hosting this month’s meetup.

With branding as this month's topic, we got to work on creating some new headshots with James Young Photography, Nat Reynolds Photography, and Brianna Gamble Photography (me!), styling and photographing the perfect flatlay photos for our social media with Ines Zrinski and Megan Wells, and infusing our personalities into our "About Me" pages on our websites with guidance from Nat Reynolds.

Terresa provided us with some small bites to snack on, we had beer and wine donated by Craft & Cork Pub, and we ended the night with a micro dance party.

Check out the images of HeadSpace by Nat Reynolds Photography, and a video recap of the night by Goose Flock Photography. And if you're a local creative or business owner, head over to the Vacaville TuesdaysTogether Facebook group to join in on the fun!

Tell us a little about yourself!

My name is Mazal Shavratov and I live in Vacaville California. I am sixteen years old and an early high school graduate from Vanden High School and I decided to do something I love this summer.

I was going through my Instagram page and saw a post about this internship and decided to send in an application. I was so excited when I was contacted about this internship and am ready to put my heart into it. My summer plans involve spending time with my family and friends, traveling, community service, and this internship.

What do you love about photography?

I love the entire concept of it, from start to finish. The creativity and the passion that goes into make an amazing photograph amazes me. It takes a lot of skill to be able to think of a great photo, take it, edit it, and make sure the client also loves it. Also, the satisfaction you get after finishing a shoot with beautiful pictures is amazing.

What are you passionate about?

I'm passionate about making an impact on this world, small or big. As long as I make people happy with what I love to do, I'm satisfied!

What are some small things that make your day better?

The small things that make my day better are my friends and music, especially when you put them together. I love sitting in a room with my friends and sharing music with each other on the loudspeaker.

What’s the last adventure you went on?

My last adventure started with my friend and I getting lost driving to a nursery for flowers. I wanted to go and get some flowers for Valentine's Day. I was hoping to take some nice pictures because the weather was amazing but we made a wrong turn somewhere and ended up in the middle of nowhere. I had to turn back and we never found the nursery, so we went to a flower shop that was recommended on Yelp. But when we got there...the building and shop were no longer there. We gave up the search and went to eat food instead. Even though we did not get flowers, it is an experience that will always be remembered between us.

Summer Intern Promo Shoot (3).jpg

What is your favorite food?

Mac and Cheese.

What is something that no one knows about you?

I speak three languages but when you ask me to translate I just pretend I did and say whatever I want.

Favorite thing to do on a beautiful day?

Take pictures of my friends or relax in the sun.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Both, depends on my mood.

Starbucks or Dutch Bros?

Starbucks, caramel frap all the way!

What are you excited about in the next 12 months?

Starting University, meeting new people, and enjoying my summer.

What are you grateful for right now?

I am grateful for being able to do something I have been passionate about for so many years.
